Cocoa - Custom NSStatusItem appearance in the menu bar

Easy to set title and length of NSStatusItem. Is it possible to completely change the appearance of NSStatusItem and replace it with a custom view?

For example, if I want my NSStatusItem to be a whole line of icons surrounded by a border, and not just one icon, and each icon can be clicked individually. Is it possible?

Got it. I can use the NSStatusItem method setView:to fully customize the appearance of NSStatusItem.
