Using the Upload Multiple Files function, how many files can be uploaded to the document library at a time? Does it depend on the total file size?

As I know, there is a restriction only on the maximum document size (50 MB by default). You can configure it on the page "General Settings" → "Web Application". I do not think that there are restrictions on the maximum files downloaded at one time.
