Android development and debugging

Does anyone know which tools, methods, and skills are most practical on the Android platform for diagnosing / fixing errors during development?

My problem is that my phone model does not seem to be supported by Android Debug Bridge. When I run the emulator, it runs about 10 times slower than my phone, which leads to a very inefficient, tedious, painful dev process. When the application crashes, all that is shown is that the exception was thrown, there is no stacktrace provided (which, as I know, is the standard).

If anyone can suggest any best practices for use within the limitations of the Android platform, that would be greatly appreciated. It seems to me that I am developing at the speed of a turtle here.

Thank.

Byron

Logcat is your friend. It will display a full stack of all the exceptions you have received, and you can add reasonable logging through your application to help you diagnose problems.
