Survey Template for Silverlight 4 WCF Ria Services

I am building an application in Silverlight using Ria Services, which can take quite some time after starting a service call. I was looking for ways to increase the WCF service timeout, but the more I think about it, this is the wrong approach.

What I would prefer is to call the DomainContext and immediately return, and then ask the client to poll the server to find out when the long request is completed.

I am looking for a sample or an example of a good way to implement something like this. One potential problem that comes to mind is that web services do not have to maintain state between service calls, but that is exactly what I will do.

Any thoughts?

Thank,

-Scott

Take a look at signalr, it can work side by side with ria and allows you to send messages back to the client from the server.
