CFAjaxProxy or Javascript

I recently studied AJAX technology for my company. I'm having trouble choosing between CFAjaxProxy and Javascript (we use jQuery). IMO CFAjaxProxy is extremely easy to implement, and jQuery is a bit more complicated. Is there a performance difference between the two? Is there any overhead I could miss? Are there any other features for the ColdFusion environment?

EDIT

I don't know if I made myself clear. I was wondering if CFAjaxProxy or javascript is the best XMLHttpRequest () object or jQuery $ .ajax ().

Whichever solution you choose, make sure that you study the security implications that it presents so that you do not open your system up to much.
