A small team needs a system where they can post to the wall, and the rest of the team can comment.
They will have a toolbar that will allow them to immediately see all the recent activity.
They should also post files in their posts.
I tried OpenAtrium.com and I feel that it is great, but it is too complicated for this project.
I thought about writing a dead simple system, but thought that I would try this way earlier.
I would prefer it to be in php, mysql, open-source.
