Problems with iPad / jQuery.animate (scroll)

Question

I have a page that uses jQuery.animate to scroll through a body / html document, it works fine in browsers, but just won’t play ball with an iPad.

First, it is supposed to scroll in the Y direction, then X, but on the iPad it scrolls in Y, then it goes to its original position before scrolling in the X direction. After the animation is completed, the links that are used for navigation will stop functioning if you do not scroll the page manually and then will work again!

What am I doing wrong here? The page is here ...
