Is deep demarcation a nesting of productivity?

I started using the Monster DOM, which is generally pretty cool and useful. One of the warnings it gave me when analyzing the page I built is that I have too many elements (more than 15 levels).

How much does a div maximize browser performance? Should I make every effort to minimize nesting?

This is not a problem with modern browsers.

This should not have a big impact on IE6 - you have to consider the total number of divs (elements in general), since it will have more impact than just embedding 20 elements. I saw IE6 struggle with rendering ~ 1000 div with less attachment.
