EBS root instances do not seem to have instance storage

EBS root instances do not seem to have instance storage - is this correct or some odd error?

I expect / dev / sda to be an EBS trimmed volume, and then you have other instance storage devices in the form of / dev / sdb, etc.

Is this a false assumption?

It's not a mistake. Unlike Ephemeral, EBS-based instances do not provide you with free storage.

However, you can create a new EBS volume and attach it to your instance.
