Deploy application on smart device

Just wondering what is the best way to deploy an application to a device using Active Sync / Windows Mobile Device Center? I was thinking about creating a CAB project that works, but I just want to know any other options for this.

And also, how can I get the icon, is actually displayed when the application was installed on the device, and the shortcut was created on the desktop of my device.

The CAB file is really the only option for a package that can be installed on the device. You can register a CAB with ActiveSync so that it can be installed automatically through the WMDC interface (as opposed to having the user copy the CAB). This process is described in this MSDN article .

Getting the badge is just a matter of creating and copying the shortcut to the appropriate directory, usually in CAB. \Windows\Start Menu- This is probably the place where you are.
