I have a number of Windows 2000 systems that we are trying to use to program new Arduino Uno and Mega devices. These boards now come with a USB connection, an update from previous FTDI . I cannot load the Arduino code on the board from a Windows 2000 system.
These drivers are * .inf files that modify the standard USB driver that comes with Windows (in this case, Windows 2000).
I am reviewing the process of installing a port, installing a device, and downloading. Downloading fails, and the obvious mistake is that the PC cannot communicate with the board. I checked the port, adjusted the baud rate, etc. I even transferred the port number from a large port number (i.e. COM12) to a lower port (COM2) without any success. I see activity on the rec / xmt indicators on the Arduino board, so some types of data are sent and received.
I'm looking for:
Someone who was able to upload files from Windows 2000 to Arduino
or
A way of laying inside the USB driver to view traffic going up and down so that I can continue to debug this.
or
Some general tips on what you need to look in the .inf file that you need to install / not configure for it to work in Windows 2000.
