What are some common elements / functions for a more convenient graphical interface?

I presented a prototype software for the โ€œclientโ€ of the product I was working on. The requirements for the program were extremely vague, as the client had doubts as to what could be achieved using the software (he usually deals with equipment and parts).

The client was very impressed with the functionality of the program, and indeed the greatest desire was to have a more convenient graphical interface - whatever that meant. It made me think what exactly makes the user-friendly graphical interface.

I feel that his difficult question is to answer, as the one who writes the program because I know all the internal workings of the graphical interface. I know some friends / colleagues / etc. They can play a little with him and get feedback - a great way to test the intuitiveness of the graphical interface, but this does not mean that it is user-friendly, it just means that the user can ultimately "understand this".

I do not want this question to be specific to my project, I just wanted to let you know where I came from. What do you think for a convenient graphical interface?
