How to handle warnings as errors that prevent compilation in Intellij? I figured out how to change the severity of error checking, and this will highlight the problem in red, but compilation still succeeds. And also it does not show red underscores in the project view, as a common mistake does.

IntelliJ cannot change the rules governing the compiler; red-yellow-green is for your behavior.

It is executed only if IntelliJ shows a green color; ask your teammates to do this as well.
