Which one is the first, Grails or Groovy?

I wanted to create a web application. I was thinking about choosing Groovy or Grails. But I don’t know where to start! Start with Groovy or Grails?

I have just been in the same situation.

With my latest Java examples dating back about 7 years, I tried to start with Grails directly using the Grails Ultimate Guide .

I went 1/3 and realized that I understood enough to get started. But as soon as I started hacking, I noticed that I just ran into too many errors that would take me hours to resolve, simply due to a lack of Groovy knowledge .
