How to diagnose performance problems inside mongodb using mongostats

I use mongostats to diagnose overall activity inside my mongodb instance. How can I use it to diagnose problems / degradation of performance?

One field that I'm really interested in learning more about is% blocked and expected behavior based on the results of all other fields.

I feel this function is a bit vague and needs to be cleaned up a bit more.
