Time in the era of Linux

Question

On Linux, is there an easy way to set the time value of an era directly? I know that there are many ways to format the date command, but none of them match our needs.

What we do is use an Android phone to set the time on the embedded Linux device when it is connected. Getting the era on Android is not a problem, but all attempts to get this information accepted by the Linux device have been rejected.

I don’t have a machine on which I can run it right now, but:

date -s @1190000000

works for you? (Obviously change the timestamp)
