Mailbox structure

Question

I am writing a simple pop3 server in erlang. Now I want to write a mailbox with mnesia or something else databse. What is the most optimal table structure and data schema for a mailbox?

Second question. I need advice for db, what do you think of mnesia for this moment?

And the last question:

If I use the MAILDIR format or the small MAILDIR mod, where can I get information about how email clients, such as thunderbird, work with the pop3 server using MAILDIR? Or it doesn’t depend on which mail store on the server, all clients receive mail using the RETR num pop3 command?
