Processing - interactive graphics editor

I am involved in the development of a free instructional training tool that can be used by VLSI Engineering students.

I decided to use Processing to develop the program.

Central to the application is the user's ability to draw multiple polygons on the screen interactively with the mouse. At the moment I’m looking for a simple style design for a graphical editor, with which I can draw rectangles in the Canvas Processing applet and perform the usual operations - select, move, delete, compress, etc. I intend to do further calculations on the entered rectangular sketch (or layout in terms of VLSI).

So far, I have managed to develop a small prototype that allows you to create interactive rectangles, but it lacks the ability to select and transform.

I was wondering if there is any open source application or book that can lead me in the right direction.

Thank.

Dhruv
