How to populate an Excel spreadsheet with MySQL data using PHP

Let's continue and get rid of it - I understand that I can generate tables with php and mysql and output "almost" any format that I need, but in this case the Excel spreadsheet is formatted in some strange way (layout, color, etc.). d.) and the client will not budge. I have to use an exact Excel spreadsheet.

I am trying to extract data from a mysql database with php calculations behind it and populate various cells in an Excel file. Can this be done?

You can try PHPExcel ( http://phpexcel.codeplex.com/ ). I think this is what you are looking for.
