Windows Installer: can two different installers share the same component

I have two installers - one for 64-bit Windows and the other for 32-bit Windows. The 32-bit installer installs 32-bit executables and DLLs, and the 64-bit installer installs 64-bit exes and dll, as well as 32-bit. 32-bit components are shared by installers.

Is Windows installer explicitly allowed for this scenario? Thank.

Yes, it is supported. Just make sure that the 32-bit components have the same name and GUID in both installers. Thus, they use a reference counter.
