MPMoviePlayerController iPhone 3G and .mov format

Just send a question to the world ... My app is currently set up to play video files. The application is configured to play .mov files, and when tested on 3GS, iPhone 4 and iPad, it works great. But when playing on iPhone 3G, the file does not play. Is it based on different compression standards that 3G cannot handle? I liked the .mov extension, as it was perfectly compressed for stream to the device. Now I converted the video files to .m4v so that it plays on 3G, but the file is now 3 times larger. Thanks in advance for any answers I receive!

3G does not support (in my experience, I can not find it in the documents) .mov. Probably the best option is to convert to another format. You can try using quicktime to convert to "iPhone (cellular)", as this format will be smaller.

3G should not have a difference with the 3GS format, and 3G works with the same OS version as the others? MPMoviePlayerController has changed significantly between 3.0 and 3.2 / 4.0, and you will have to implement it differently for the two versions.
