After recovering a large DB (70 Gb) from SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2005, we experienced a performance loss while executing queries, functions, or procedures that worked fine on SQL Server 2000.
After some troubleshooting, we found that the option “Automatically generate SQL Server statistics” was turned on, and after setting it to the “OFF” position, the performance was significantly improved.
Why was this option so poorly used in my case?
When everything is ok, use Auto Create Statististics = ON?
