The difference between SQL Server 2005 and 2008

Can someone give me some description of the differences between SQL Server 2008 and SQL Server 2005?

Are there any changes to the update request or any new feature in the 2008 version?

The most important, in my opinion, are:

  • MERGE
  • Chains OUTPUT
  • Ability to pass table variables to stored procedures
  • Native Materialized Path Support ( hierarchyid)
  • Filtered (Partial) Indexes
