How can I write a docking app for Mac?

I have an application that I would like to create that starts when you launch mac and appears in the dock.

I have experience with Objective-C and iPhone dev, but I don’t have a Mac dev, I am also a PC user, so I’m not sure about how to use a Mac. Any guidance here is appreciated.

How to get an autorun application?
