How to build a Venn diagram with 4 sets

I have four sets of identifiers (stored in separate text files), and I would like to create a Venn diagram showing how these sets overlap. I managed to insert lists into this web application and get a simple diagram, but I'm looking for something that I have a little more control over (colors, graphic size, etc.). Any suggestions? My first thought was R, but it’s more convenient for me to try something.

So, in the attached application, you simply draw text on top of a fixed image, right? And do you want to be able to create Venn diagrams with four sets with your own colors? In this case, you should be fine with almost any server-side scripting language, i.e. with PHP or ASPX. If your solution is set to four sets (or less), then placing the ellipses should be simple math. ImageMagick has to do the trick in many publicly available programming languages.

I managed to create beautiful venn diagrams using creately . You must register to be able to save and export your data, but the account is free. I use it in cases where matplotlib_venn does not give good results for one reason or another.
