DeleteURLCacheEntry does not delete temporary Internet files when protected mode is enabled

Question

I use the "deleteURLCacheEntry" Wininet API to delete temporary Internet files in Win7 / Vista IE 7/8, respectively. The API works fine when protected IE mode is turned off. But it does not work when protected mode is enabled. Can someone advise me how to programmatically delete temporary Internet files when the PROTECT mode is on?
