Having dynamic subscriptions in a repeating list object in SSRS

I process reports in ASP.NET and I wanted users to have custom reports and then generate them in PDF. Instead of manually adding subordinate entries to the parent report file and switching visibility when necessary, I plan for the list object to repeat the nested sub-report object and then link which report file to use, the dataset, and parameters needed to run report.

I'm currently scouring Google for a solid tutorial on this, and so far I don't have the right guide. So now I desperately want to know if this is possible. Has anyone here tried this before?

It is certainly possible. Open the table and get Subreport in this table. Group the table with the argument you want to pass as the argument to the report. Then you can right-click on your subreport element (make sure that you are really in the subtitle and not in tablecell) and determine the arguments you want to get into. Left side without @ sign and right side:

  • rightclick on subreport
  • subreport properties
  • Parameters
  • First, an argument for your subtitle (i.e.: MyArgument1)
  • then the argument from your current report (i.e.: @ Parameter1 or your group)

Gotta do the trick ;-). If you have questions, just ask.
