How many states has activity?

The Activity lifecycle section in the app fundamentals tutorial states that there are 3 :

Activity has essentially three states:

(1. active / running 2. paused 3. stopped)

But then, continuing to read the actual documentation of the activity class, the Activity Lifecycle section indicates that there are 4 states:

Activity has essentially four states:

(1. active / running 2. suspended 3. stopped 4. β€œdropped”?)

Both sources (on one site) agree on the first 3, but the fourth is only mentioned in the class documentation and has no name.

So, are there really 4 states or only 3?

If there is 4, then what is the name of the fourth?
