I have a situation that really annoys me. In random cases, with success of the order of 70-80%, the launched solutions in Visual Studio 2010 in debug mode freeze the entire system to such an extent that I need to insert my dirty finger into the restart button of my window.
This is my setup:
- I7 processor with 8 GB of RAM
- Windows 7 Ultimate x64
- Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate
- IIS 7
My box has been working with the same configuration for more than a year, and only recently (1-2 weeks ago) it began to happen. I noticed that this happens more often with 4.0-oriented projects, and even more with 4.0 ASP.NET websites and web services. These projects have worked great for a long time, and they seem to work great on other development machines, convincing me even more that the problem lies with the machine itself.
Here is what I tried without success:
- Reboot (every time, this is the only way out)
- Repair .NET Framework 4.0 using web install
- Restore VS 2010 installation
- Restart IIS as a crazy person.
- Reinstall IIS
- A curse
