Clearing WinAPI Controls

If you've ever seen an application in Adobe Creative Suite 5 (CS5), you may have noticed that it does not look like the native Windows GUI. They changed him to take a different look at him.

Where does anyone start creating a custom skin app? CS5 uses the Adobe Source library to control widgets / controls, so I tried downloading and compiling the Adobe Source library to find out if I can make a beautiful skin application like Photoshop CS5, but finally, getting it for compilation and testing, I I realized the library was intended only for managing widgets, and not for skinning a graphical interface, for example, for CS5.

Where would I start to create a nice program like Adobe Cs5? Can someone point me in the right direction?

Am I just using the WM_PAINT message from WinAPI and display my own widgets using openGL or something like that?

Use QT and QML. He does not have a steep learning curve. You define your GUI using JavaScript and add a lot of effects and enjoy using PNG in every single thing you can imagine. Then you use your application logic with C ++. You can actually do some pretty advanced things besides the UI with QML, but it’s better to separate the problems as always.
