How do I add a web part zone to a SharePoint wiki page?

I have a team site. I understand that the default homepage on a team site is a wiki page. I want to add a web part zone to this page. How can i do this? By default, it already has a web part zone.

You can use the SharePoint designer to add the web part to this zone, and it works great. But you cannot add the web part to this zone using the SharePoint web interface? Usually, when you have a zone web part on a page using the SharePoint web interface, it allows you to add / remove a web part. But this does not apply to the web part zone on the default home page of the team site.

Can I also add a web part zone to this page? I know that you can easily add web parts to the contents of a wiki page. But I want to add a new web part zone where users can add / remove web parts.

Thanks, Hitesh

Have you tried to add a web part zone to SharePoint Designer?

In addition, just in case you don’t know, you can disable the default wiki page by disabling this feature at the site level.
