Where mono put app.config

I have a winforms application that has app.config.

If the configuration file is missing, it is automatically generated. However, it is not created in the directory from which the application is running. I can’t find anything.

I know that it was created because my settings are saved as expected.

So where mono put it.

(works on ubuntu 10.04) mono 2.4.

It seems that in windows the deleted .config file is not being restored (I get an error message) until I do a recreation. But on mono, he pretty happily continues to save my settings after deleting the configuration file.
