If route.IgnoreRoute ("{resource} .axd / {* pathInfo}"); is mandatory, why is it not installed once through IIS?

I notice that it is routes.IgnoreRoute("{resource}.axd/{*pathInfo}");always configured whenever we create MVC applications.

If this is a required thing, why don't we configure it once through IIS settings, and not do it again and again?

No one said it was "required." However, it makes sense to be the default. And if you do not want this, you can delete it.
