PHP: Should I worry about MySQL extension or just learn PDO?

Question

Since I found that the PHP MySQL extension has some potential security flaws, and this is old fashioned, shouldn't I learn it and just check the PDO and MySQLi extensions?

Is there any real difference between the two?

Will it study all three that give me benefits, or enough to recognize only one or two of them?

How do they differ from the fact that one is procedural and the other is OO (this means the second and third extension i).
