I started using Flash CS5 (and it sucks, but that's not my problem today). I have been working on the .FLA file for many hours. Saving when I went, and at some point Flash CS5 crashed while saving. The .fla file is now corrupt. The new .fla format is essentially a .zip file. Therefore, I was able to change the file name to * .zip and explore inside it. The DOMDocument.xml file is corrupted and dead. DOMDocument.xml is a timeline, so all of my layout and animation have disappeared. However, my LIBRARY folder is in tact and has all my library items as * .xml files.
I was wondering if anyone knows how I can get these library items into another .fla file so that I don't lose ALL of my work?
I tried to create a new .fla file and drag the LIBRARY folder to the new .fla, but my library items do not appear when I load the new .fla into the Flash CS5 IDE.
Any help is appreciated.
I was able to work through a series of hacks to restore my library items. Here are the steps:
Rename the damaged FLA file with the new .zip extension.
Examine the .ZIP file and find the "LIBRARY" folder.
Copy the XML files from the LIBRARY folder to another location somewhere on your disk.
Create a new default FLA file and save it.
Change the file extension of the new FLA to .zip
Examine the new .zip file and find the "LIBRARY" folder. It must be empty.
XML "LIBRARY" zip.

This error occurred to me with a (innocent!) Hard reset of my computer while the FLA was still open.
I just leave it here ... https://www.designcontest.com/forum/adobe-flash/63637-how-recover-damaged-corrupt-files-adobe-flash.html
