I have a PNG image that I'm trying to trace back to its original city.
I was told that someone was able to do this by extracting IP from PNG metadata, but I am skeptical about this. It makes no sense to me that the image editor would take care of including the IP address of the computer at the time it was saved or that there would even be a place in the PNG specification reserved for this information.
Suppose the image is hosted on TinyPic. Do any of you know a way to find the information I'm looking for?
EDIT: The image has had some changes made for it, and I'm trying to find the source of this version of the image. I'm interested in information that the image editing software might have been crowded there, or any ways to find the source of the image that could not be connected to PNG (I emailed TinyPic and asked for it, for example).
Thanks to those who have already suggested answers.
