JQuery Shimmer Button Effect

Question

Is there a way to create a flicker effect for an HTML element using jQuery simulating a moving light source? I see this on Flash components, but have not yet seen one with jQuery. Want me not to make flickering GIFs if I can.

EDIT1 . I guess I will need to capture the hover event, and then use the animation to fold the white fuzzy diagonal image over the borders of the IMG or DIV tag, moving it from left to right once.
