I may have confused the problem. I understand that using OpenID, people can access my site using either Yahoo / Google / Other providers without registering a username and password on my site. Fine.
The problem for me, however, is how can I request information about the Yahoo network from a user when a user signs up my site using Google OpenID? I mean, I donβt see the connection between Google and Yahoo. This is a kind of defeat to the OpenID goal, no? (Since both Google and Yahoo are OpenID providers, and yet, they cannot talk to each other for the same user. Then, what good does he do to have a "universal login?")
I really see FlickR, you can (part of the Yahoo network), you can log in using a Google ID, but the problem is that I already have a Yahoo ID, how do you connect my Google OpenID with my existing Yahoo ID?
My idea of ββ"universal login" is that no matter with which provider I registered my account, this login can be used for any OpenID provider. If I have an existing account, I can connect it or replace it with this identifier. From then on, I can get information anywhere while I use this "Universal Login"
A bit confused. Hope someone can clarify this issue for me.
