How to quickly write a Firefox extension?

I have to make a firefox extension that will embed some js code, as well as the entire jQuery lib. I want this to happen (injection) when the user clicks a button located somewhere in the browser. I read documents from MDC and other tutorials about creating extensions, and they seem complicated to me. Technologies like XPCOM or XUL love me completely (I don’t have time to study them). My question is, is this another way to solve my problem after MDC? I need to find a faster way to complete my task. I already wrote an extension for Google Chrome, and it was easier than doing it for Firefox.

I would look at Greasemonkey . It has some similarities with the Chrome functionality in the function (Script is entered on the page, local storage, etc.). Regarding the use of jQuery with Greasemonkey, look at this question: How to use jQuery in Greasemonkey?

You can use the bookmarklet to add jQuery to the page and / or enter any other code.
