IPhone - translucent black status bar above the application

Question

In my iphone application, I want my view to have a height of 480 pixels. And above that, at the top, I want to have a translucent black status bar above my view so that the image of the back surface in my view should be slightly visible behind the status bar. How can i achieve this?

try this if it works
[[UIApplication sharedApplication] setStatusBarStyle: UIStatusBarStyleBlackTranslucent];
and send your image in the opposite direction.
[self.view sendSubviewToBack: imageView];
