IPad sim network traffic does NOT go through the system proxy

Question

Does anyone know the reason that the system proxy settings (through System Preferences) would be ineffective on the iPad simulator for iOS 4.2?

Googling has so far discovered that it is possible that it bypassed the system proxy in older versions of the iOS SDK, but I can’t find consensus on the current state of things.

I can’t get ANY HTTP requests to go to my proxy.

EDIT: nothing is done for system settings; NO traffic will go through the proxy server
