Loading Indexes from Wavefront OBJ Format

I am developing an Android application with OpenGL ES 2.0.

I want to download an export made using Blender 2.49b in Wavefront OBJ format. I determined verxtex position, normal condition and texture.

I want to use glDrawElements (GLenum mode, GLsizei count, GLenum type, const GLvoid * index) to draw my grid, but I do not know how I can get the last parameter, indexes, from the Wavefront OBJ file.

Are there any β€œindexes” I'm looking for?

I found this on the forum: faces = indexes starting with 1!

What is the meaning of "starting with 1!"
