Should I use Python for a little CRM? If not, is there another platform?

We have a new client who would like us to develop custom CRM for our employees.

The main functions that they would like to do:

  • Ability to save forms
  • Send reminders to employees via email and text messaging
  • The main features of charting.
  • Automatic backup online

So, as we can see, saving data and then reminding employees are the most important functions of this CRM.

Now my main question is: I have long wanted to learn Python. I think this CRM should be done by a person who is learning Python. I have good experience with PHP, jQuery and a bit of .NET.

So does anyone here think that I should continue Python as a platform for this project? Or should I go to any other platform that might have features that Python won't provide me with?

I would not reinvent the wheel if I were you. Instead, I will try to use one of the existing open source CRMs to build the system. The famous open source CRM is SugarCRM . There are more available, most of them are built with PHP, so your PHP experience will be useful.
