Public Editor WYSIWYG Math

Question

I am looking for an open source library / program for the WYSIWYG math equation editor. That is, I can make changes to the formula and see how it looks in real time.

The output does not have to be visually equivalent to TeX, it just needs to be decent - and in real time.

The closest I've found so far is TeXmacs, but the source code base is pretty huge and (IMHO) hard to read. Does anyone know something similar, but with a smaller code base (<10K LOC)?
