Does anyone know a good quick and dirty text / grammar parser?

I have a crazy lib script in which I want

a) determine the parts of speech of each (or most) words in a sentence
b) the user selects alternatives to these words - or replaces them with computationally equivalent words

I looked at Stanford's parser, but its a little slow ... any suggestions?

Use POS Tag

If you are using Part of Speech (POS) tags rather than parsing trees, you don't actually need to use a parser. Instead, you can simply use a standalone POS token.

POS , . Xeon E5520, POS 1700 3 , 10 (Cer . 2010).
