Is there a way to pause running a Java program in Eclipse on a Macbook Pro?

I am using a MacBook Pro. Sometimes I want to pause a long, heavy-duty experiment running on my system because I'm in the battery or for some other reason. Is there a way to do this in Eclipse? Or even on Mac OS X itself?

You can pause any process on Mac OS X (or any Unix) using the command killto send a signal SIGSTOPto the process.

Find the process identifier (pid), for example, we say 9281.

kill -SIGSTOP 9281

and resume ...

kill -SIGCONT 9281

pid, ps, ps -a , java, .
