Clisp 2.49: asdf cannot find asd

Question

My setup: Windows vista clisp 2.49

I run clisp and load asdf without any problems. I click on the directory path in asdf:*central-registry*and copy the shortcut cl-ppcre.asd to the directory. Then I try to download using (asdf:oos 'asdf:load-op 'cl-ppcre), and I get a response that the "component" cl-ppcre "was not found". Any suggestions? Asdf - version 2.010.

In a few words, the problem is that ASDF does not like Windows shortcuts, it wants soft links, and the two do not match. The link describes 2-3 ways to handle this.
