IE is changing the color of my image ... eh?

I have a really strange problem that I can’t explain and fix, it drives me crazy.

I have this logo that I display on a web page: http://imgur.com/eGLwE.png Note that the background color value is # 400000 or rgb (64,0,0)

I display this image on a webpage with a background color of # 400000.

When displaying it in Firefox, everything is perfect, and I can’t notice a shift from the background color and the image.

However, in IE (8), the background color of the image is mysteriously changed to # 360000 or rgb (54,0,0) so the shift from the background color of the page to the image is visible ... this should not happen.

Why does IE change the color of my image? That doesn't make sense, lol.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

IE8 should not change the color of your image, which is bizarre.

But it is so! Let's add this to the long list of interpretations of IE bizarro.

Have you tried using png with a transparent background?

if this is not possible for you, there is an article describing the IE PNG problem and how to fix it: http://www.biorust.com/tutorials/detail/231/en/ alt text
