SubTitle for navigation bar

Does anyone know how to get the SubTitle panel in the navigation bar, for example NYTimes (where they talk the latest news). This is clearly part of the navigation bar, as it remains stationary. Here's what it looks like in NYTimes (but many other applications do the same). http://cl.ly/362d181Q3l2I111q2Q46

The upper part of the selection (where it says “Latest News, Updated Moments ago”) is the custom view they created and assigned to the tableHeaderView property of the table.

The bottom of the selection (where it says “Today”) is the heading of the table section. Each section of the table receives an optional title. They probably made them by implementing – tableView:titleForHeaderInSection:in their class, implementing the UITableViewDataSource protocol, and returned the @ "Today" line for this section.
