How can I determine if `hg convert` is really doing something?

I am using Mercurial on Win32 (Server 03). I would like to copy the Subversion repo on my local drive to the Mercurial repository on my local drive so that I can test mercury merging versus disruptive activities.

Is the hg convertright team?

Thereafter: "c:\Program Files\TortoiseHg\hg.exe" convert c:\dev\SubversionRepo\MyRepo -r 123456 -s svn c:\devhg\MyRepo_123456

I get a message saying:

8 Created MyRepo branch again as a copy from http://.../Branches/SourceRepo.
There was another MyRepo branch in this same location that was deleted.

OK, I'm nervous. A branch at this location that has been deleted ? No, I do not want to delete branches.

And now the conversion command seems to be inhibited. In c:\devhg\MyRepo_123456there are no files created behind the base .hg. Am I doing it wrong?
